We offer refunds and/or replacements on a case by case basis. Refund/replacement requirements are: description of product, lot number (on the bottom of the box), and photos of product and packaging. The serving sizes reflect uncooked pasta. When you cook Banza, it almost doubles in size and weight, taking on the water it’s boiled in. The nutrition information of cooked Banza is the same as that of the dried pasta you measured before cooking.
Of note, some pasta shapes take up more room than others. For example, one cup of Banza Rotini (measured dry) equals about 2.3 oz (dry), whereas one cup of Banza elbows (measured dry) equals about 3.8 oz (dry).
Banza Pasta is a low glycemic index food, with a score of 36 (GI study here). To be considered Low GI, a food must score less than 55. Chickpeas have been shown to maintain blood sugar control, and we've had many people with diabetes note that they feel comfortable eating Banza frequently, as our noodles have 3x the fiber, 2x the protein, and 25% fewer net carbs than traditional pasta. That said, we always recommend checking with your doctor or dietitian if you have any further questions.
Xanthan gum is produced by the fermentation of a sugar (glucose)—much like the way yogurt is made. In our case, it's a non-GMO ingredient that adds volume; it’s in many of your favorite sauces, for instance. Our xanthan gum is derived from corn. There are no corn proteins in xanthan gum, and the ingredient itself is a very small percentage of the product. That said, if you have an allergy to corn, we advise checking with your doctor before eating Banza.
The majority ingredient in our pasta is chickpeas. The sugar in Banza is naturally occurring in the chickpeas - there is no added sugar. In a 2 oz serving, there are 2g of natural sugars.
Banza contains 175mg phosphorus (15% DV) and about 510mg potassium (10% DV) per 2 oz serving.
All of our pasta shapes (Alphabets, Angel Hair, Bucatini, Cavatappi, Casarecce, Elbows, Gemelli, Linguine, Penne, Rigatoni, Rotini, Shells, Spaghetti, Wheels, and Ziti) are certified by Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), and are produced in a dedicated gluten-free facility.

Banza Pasta has a PDCAAS of 0.83, which is higher than most other plant-based protein sources, for instance tofu (0.56) or traditional durum wheat pasta (.43). For reference, the highest PDCAAS a protein source can score is 1.0.

We are aware that raw legumes (like chickpeas!) can have higher lectin levels, and therefore we monitor and test for it. Lectins are naturally occurring proteins found in plants, which serve as a plant’s natural defense mechanism against viruses, bacteria, fungi, and pests. When consumed by people, lectins are considered “anti-nutrients”, as some studies show they can cause digestive issues and interfere with mineral absorption. Lab results show that Banza Pasta has no to extremely low amounts of lectins. Specifically, Banza Pasta measured at <.05 mg/g, which is significantly lower than the detectable lab limit.

A few tips for best results when cooking Banza:
Start tasting the pasta about a minute before the shortest cook time on the box. All stoves are different, so we recommend tasting noodles until they reach your desired texture.
When the pasta reaches your preferred texture, strain it, and rinse under water as you strain. Rinsing Banza after cooking removes the chickpea starch that forms during the cooking process.
Some tips to decrease the foam: fill your pot with more water, turn the burner down to a lower heat, add a splash of olive oil to the water, and/or scrape some foam off the top with a spoon.
A boiling pot of Banza may foam up a bit more than traditional pasta. This same foam occurs when boiling chickpeas themselves (the majority ingredient in Banza is chickpeas!). Some tips to decrease the foam: fill your pot with more water, turn the burner down to a lower heat, add a splash of oil to the water, and/or scrape some foam off the top.

A few tips for best results when cooking Banza Microwavable Mac:
Be sure to fill water to the fill line (the lower indent inside the cup). This amounts to a little more than 1/2 cup of cold water (5oz, 140g, or 140 ml). Stir well to fully dissolve the powder.
Keep an eye out as it cooks for 2 minutes (microwave wattage will vary).
Take it out of the microwave, let the product rest for about a minute, and give it a few final stirs to ensure every noodle is coated in cheese. Enjoy!

Follow package directions for best results. Cook as you would pasta, and use a fine mesh strainer. For cooking one bag (8 oz) of Banza rice:
1. In a pot, bring 6 cups of salted water to a rolling boil.
2. Reduce heat to a simmer and add Banza.
3. Cook to desired firmness, stirring occasionally. Approx. 3-4 minutes. Expect some foam.
4. Drain using a fine mesh strainer. Make sure to rinse the rice with water if you are making Chickpea Rice.
5. If you're making Flavored Rice, next you'll stir in the seasoning packet and 1 tbsp of olive oil or butter (optional). Cover and let sit for 2 minutes to allow flavors to develop. For all other varieties, return to pot, fluff with a fork and enjoy! You can enjoy Banza Rice as you would regular rice or grains - as a side, in a burrito bowl, as a paella - you name it! At this time, the product is best prepared according to the instructions on the back of the bag. We do not recommend using a rice cooker to prepare Banza rice.
Unlike our regular rice and other products, we do not recommend rinsing Banza flavored rice varieties after cooking them. The heat from the rice helps the flavors from the seasoning packet develop, and you don’t want to rinse off any of that deliciousness!
Banza rice is a different formulation than our pasta. We created Banza rice varieties to work best in rice dishes, and more closely mimic the texture of your favorite grains.

Follow package directions for best results, and please make sure to remove the cardboard round prior to baking. For a perfectly crispy pizza, place directly on the middle oven rack.
Our current cooking instructions are written for a conventional oven at 400°F. For convection baking, reduce the temperature to 375°F and cook time remains the same.
Craving a grilled pizza? Set the heat to medium and let the pizza sit out at room temp for a few minutes. For our plain crust, we like to rub each side with a little olive oil (about 1 teaspoon per side) and grill face down. Then flip, add toppings and grill until the crust is lightly charred. For our topped pizzas, grill covered until the crust is lightly charred and cheese is melted.
We recommend baking our pizza directly on the middle oven rack so air can flow underneath and allow it to get nice and crispy on the bottom! Our dough is not wet and the crust is a nice barrier to keep cheese and toppings from falling off, so it shouldn’t make a mess in your oven. If you prefer to bake on a baking sheet or pizza stone, we recommend placing it in the oven while preheating so it can warm up and ensure the pizza gets crispy on the bottom.
If you’d like to bake your pizza on a stone, make sure it’s in the oven during preheating so it’s hot when the pizza is added. The pizza might not get as crispy on the stone as it will directly on the rack.

Toaster Directions:
1. Set toaster to lowest setting.
2. Toast for 1-2 cycles or until golden, crispy, and hot. For a darker, more crispy
waffle toast for 1 cycle on medium-high.

1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Place frozen waffles on a baking sheet.
2. Bake for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden, crispy, and hot.

Yes, Banza Protein Waffles are ready to eat, and while they can be safely consumed without toasting or heating, we always recommend cooking them according to packaging instructions for best results.
Flatten and recycle the waffle box, and discard the plastic bag. If you ordered online, recycle the shipping box your waffles arrived in. The insulated foam can be fully dissolved in your sink with water, composted in your bin or local facility, or added to your garden as plant food!
